This past October, PIFC had its annual October Planning Retreat with its member companies. During this year’s virtual retreat, the PIFC Board was able to meet with Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara and discuss ways in which the industry and CDI could work together on homeowners’ insurance and mitigation issues. Both parties agreed to try to solve any issues outside of the legislature as much as possible and to keep lines of communication open. PIFC legislative advocates have been in talks with legislators to inform them of this agreement in hopes of limiting any potentially harmful bills. Also in attendance was special guest Governor Gavin Newsom, who talked about the issues facing our industry.
As always, we will be monitoring all insurance-related bills and updating our PIFPAC members throughout the year as the legislature progresses.
