PIFPAC is non-partisan, supporting the best viable candidate who shows an openness to understanding the unique issues in the insurance industry, as well as understanding the needs of small business in California. PIFPAC does not interview in every district in California, and does not automatically issue an endorsement in every district we do interview in. Generally, the group does not interview in districts where there is an incumbent running.
Assembly District 7 (Sacramento County) – Win!
PIFC supported incumbent Assemblymember Josh Hoover (R) who won with 53.6% of the vote against Porsche Middleton (D).
Hoover was elected to the Assembly in 2022, unseating incumbent Democrat Ken Cooley in a close 50.4%/49.6% contest.
Assembly District 8 (Fresno County) – Win!
PIFC endorsed David Tangipa (R) who won with 53.2.% of the vote in this R on R race against George Radanovich. Tangipa earned the endorsement of termed out Assemblymember Jim Patterson.
Tangipa has lived his entire adult life in Fresno, attending Fresno State to play Football and majoring in political science and criminology, later earning a master’s degree in business administration.
Assembly District 19 (San Francisco County) – Win!
PIFC endorsed Catherine Stefani (D) who won with 61.7% of the vote against David Lee (D).
Stefani earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Saint Mary’s College of California and attended University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, admitted to the CA Bar in 1995.
Assembly District 22 (Stanislaus County) – Win!
PIFC supported Juan Alanis (R) who won with 57.1% of the vote against Jessica Self (D).
Prior to joining the Assembly in 2022, Alanis was a deputy sheriff with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office and had served nearly three decades in almost every community in Stanislaus County.
Assembly District 41 (Los Angeles County) – Win!
PIFC endorsed John Harabedian (D) who won with 58.6% of the vote against Michelle Del Rosario Martinez (R).
Harabedian is an investment manager and legal counsel for Omni Bridgeway, and a former Sierra Madre City Councilmember.
Assembly District 47 (San Bernardino County) – Win!
PIFC endorsed Greg Wallis (R) who won this open seat in 2022 by 85 votes against Palm Springs City Councilmember Christy Holstege. Voters picked from the same two candidates this cycle. Wallis won with 51.2% of votes.
Assembly District 50 (San Bernardino County) – Loss
PIFC endorsed Adam Perez (D) lost to fellow Democrat Robert Garcia.
Assembly District 53 (San Bernardino County) – Win!
PIFC endorsed Michelle Rodriguez (D) who won with 57% of the vote against Nick Wilson (R).
Rodriguez was born and raised in Ontario. Prior to the Assembly, Rodriguez served as a commissioner for the Police Officer Standards and Training Commission, which sets policy for law enforcement across California. Michelle Rodriguez is wife of Freddie Rodriguez, the outgoing legislator who served on the Insurance Committee.
Assembly District 54 (Los Angeles County) – Win!
PIFC supported Mark Gonzalez (D) who won with 56.5% of the vote against fellow democrat John Yi.
Gonzalez served as district director and field representative for several Los Angeles area assemblymembers, most recently outgoing Assemblymember Miguel Santiago.
Assembly District 62 (Los Angeles County) – Win!
PIFC endorsed Jose Solache (D) who won with 65.7% of votes against Paul Irving Jones (R).
Solache has worked as President of the Greater Lakewood Chamber of Commerce for many years.
Assembly District 74 (Orange County) – Win!
PIFC supported incumbent Assemblymember Laurie Davies (R) who won 50.8% of the vote against Chris Duncan (D) in this close race.
Assemblymember Davies was elected in 2020 by a wide margin, but 2020 redistricting changed the political makeup of her district, and she was re-elected in 2022 by a narrower five-point margin.
Assembly District 75 (San Diego County)
PIFC endorsed Andrew Hayes (R), who lost to fellow Republican Carl DeMaio.
Assembly District 79 (San Diego County) – Loss
PIFC endorsed Colin Parent (D) who lost to fellow Democrat LaShae Sharp Collins.
Senate District 3 (Solano County) – Win!
PIFC endorsed Christopher Cabaldon (D) who won 61.4% of the vote against Thom Bogue (R).
Christopher Cabaldon served as West Sacramento Mayor from 1998 until 2020, where he was instrumental in elevating the profile and economic position of the city.
Senate District 7 (Alameda County) – Win!
PIFC supported Jesse Arreguin (D) who won 57.3% of the vote against fellow democrat Jovanka Beckles.
Jesse Arreguin was elected Mayor of Berkeley in 2016 and reelected in 2020. Prior to that, he served on the Berkeley City Council.
Senate District 9 (Contra Costa County) – Win!
PIFC supported outgoing Assemblymember Tim Grayson (D) who won 52.2% of the vote against fellow democrat Marisol Rubio.
Tim Grayson was elected to the Assembly in 2016. At the time of his election, he had served on the Concord City Council since 2010. Grayson chaired the Concord Redevelopment Agency in 2011 and served as Concord Vice Mayor in 2013.
Senate District 19 (Riverside County) – Win!
PIFC supported incumbent Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R) who won 54% of the vote against Lisa Middleton (D).
Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh was elected to the state Senate in 2020. The daughter of Mexican immigrants, she earned her bachelor’s in religious studies from UC Santa Barbara and holds a teaching credential from CSU San Bernardino.
Senate District 23 (San Bernardino County) – Win!
PIFC supported former Assemblymember Suzette Martinez Valladares (R) who won 53.3% of the vote against Kipp Mueller (D).
Suzette Valladares was a non-profit executive and special needs advocate when she was elected to the Assembly in 2020. Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, she earned her associates in 2001 from College of the Canyons and completed her bachelor’s in political science at CSU Northridge in 2011.
Senate District 35 (Los Angeles County) – Win!
PIFC endorsed former Congresswoman Laura Richardson (D) who won 50.6% of the vote against Michelle Chambers (D).
Laura Richardson has focused her career on empowering neighborhoods and residents to better their community through local businesses and economic development. Richardson served in Congress from 2007 to 2012. Prior to her service in Congress, she served in the state Assembly from 2000 to 2006.
